Crow Fairy Oddity | Glow in the Dark

Deep in the heart of a forgotten collectors chamber, a glass jar sat upon an ornate wooden shelf. Inside, perched on a glowing black mushroom, was a fairy unlike any other a Common Crow butterfly fairy, her wings dark as midnight and dusted with bioluminescent spots that pulsed softly, like stars lost in shadow.
She was a treasure, a rare and delicate wonder, her magic carefully sealed within the glass prison. Around her, real moss clung to the jar base, tiny spirit-laced crystals shimmered in the dim light, and a small vial of diamonds lay beside her a stolen relic of the fae, brimming with the energy of the night sky.
Her name had been lost to time, but her glow remained. It was said that the spots on her wings held ancient light, light harvested from the space between dreams. The collector had captured her for this very reason to steal her glow, to own her light.
The black mushroom beneath her pulsed, feeding off the quiet sorrow in her heart. It, too, was a creature of luminescence, tied to the fairys life force. Together, they had been placed in this jar, nothing more than a display, a curiosity for greedy eyes.
But the fairy was not broken. Not yet.
She traced her fingers along the cold glass, feeling the enchantments woven into it. Her wings flickered, sending waves of soft, eerie glow through the moss and crystals. The vial of diamonds trembled beside her, responding to her energy.
A whisper of forgotten words stirred.
The collector had underestimated her glow. It was not just for beauty it was power, untamed and infinite. She let it build within her, the spots on her wings shining brighter, her mushroom casting an eerie blue light that filled the jar.
The crystals cracked first. Then the moss curled and withered. The diamonds shattered into a thousand tiny suns.
And then the jar exploded in a silent burst of light.
When the collector returned, all that remained was an empty shelf, dusted with faintly glowing fragments of glass. The air smelled of moss and night magic, and in the darkness beyond the window, something flitted past a pair of radiant wings vanishing into the stars.
The fairy was free. And her glow would never be owned again.
About this oddity:
Torso made from obsidian and hand painted. Tiny pakimer diamond sit in a vile of water amongst the moss next to her. Her wings are delicate crow butterfly and enhanced to glow. The insects were found dead on the forest floor and given a new life within this beautiful oddity. Crystals from my personal collection are part of her surroundings as well as a black mushroom that I have found on my property, also enhanced to glow. Please note these creations are to be handled with care as they can be fragile with the amount of intricate details, it’s best to find it’s final resting place and leave it to be admired by eyes only, over time the moss will dull which is a natural part of the design so should not be considered a fault.
(don’t worry, your fairy will not break free of her enclosure and fly away)
